Private luxury mobility: cars, chauffeurs and transfers without friction
Private luxury mobility is the last stretch of the journey: from the airport to the villa, from the harbour to the hotel. It is chosen by the same rules as a home: who answers, what it really costs, what the contract says.
Private luxury mobility: the last stretch of the journey
Private luxury mobility is about who is waiting for you on arrival. A jet flight or a week on a yacht can be perfect, but if the last stretch by road is improvised, the journey loses its meaning. Private luxury mobility means exactly this: the car, the driver and the coordination that bring you to your destination without waiting or surprises.
Elite Luxury Real Estate reads private luxury mobility with the same criteria it uses for a villa. Who answers for the service, which rules govern it, what is included in the price. This page explains how chauffeur and driver-hire services work in Italy, which terms to read when renting a prestige car, how to move through limited-traffic zones and whom to contact.
One clarification. ELRE is not a transport operator and not an intermediary. We do not collect booking requests on this page and we do not add mark-ups. The links lead to the operators’ official websites.
Chauffeurs and car hire with driver: what the law says
In Italy a service with a driver has a precise name: noleggio con conducente, or NCC. It is governed by framework law 21 of 1992 on non-scheduled public road transport. The law distinguishes taxis from hire with driver: they are two different services, both set out in Article 1 but with their own rules.
Article 3 explains how NCC works. The service is addressed to a specific user who makes the request at the carrier’s premises or garage, for a service by time or by trip, also through technological tools. Vehicles must be kept in garages. The carrier’s operating base and at least one garage must be in the municipality that issued the authorisation.
For private luxury mobility the practical consequence is clear. A professional driver must operate under an authorisation issued by a municipality. For Sicily and Sardinia the law provides an exception: an authorisation issued by a municipality in the region is valid across the whole region. Always ask whoever offers you a driver service which authorisation it holds. The full text is on Normattiva.

Renting a prestige car without a driver is a different contract. You drive yourself, so age, licence, deposit and insurance matter. Terms vary from operator to operator, and that is where the price turns out to be a bargain or not.
As an example, the conditions published by Class One, an Italian company based in Rome, require a minimum age of 20, a valid licence issued at least 24 months earlier and a credit card. The fee is paid in advance on collection and, where required, a deposit is paid under the contract. Other operators have different thresholds, often higher for supercars.
Up Cars, a company in Montebello Vicentino, in the province of Vicenza, describes a fleet that includes supercars, four-seat sports cars, convertibles, coupés and luxury SUVs. It asks you to fill in a form for a quotation and declares a customisable service. For those with a villa in north-east Italy it is one of the closest operators.
Before signing, check three things: the insurance excess, the mileage limit and who pays any fines and tolls. These are the items that turn a good price into a bad surprise.

Low-emission and restricted zones: driving in Italian cities
Anyone practising private luxury mobility in Italy has to deal with limited-traffic zones: many cities restrict vehicle access to historic centres. Milan is the best-known example. According to the City of Milan’s pages, Area C is active Monday to Friday from 7:30 to 19:30 and the daily ticket costs 7.50 euro. The ticket is bought online on the MyAreaC portal. Hours and fares change: always check the City’s website before travelling.
For private luxury mobility the question is practical. An NCC driver knows the authorised gates and manages permits; whoever drives a rented car must do it themselves. A fine for unauthorised access arrives weeks later, and the rental company passes it on to the client, often with an administrative fee.
The advice is simple. If you move around the centre, ask the rental company whether the vehicle is registered for the restricted zones you need, and how permits and fines are handled. If you do not want to think about it, let a professional drive.

Airport transfers and online-booked transfers
The transfer is the simplest service in private luxury mobility: a driver waiting at the airport who takes you to your destination at an agreed price. There are high-end operators, such as Blacklane, and platforms that connect you with local drivers, such as Welcome Pickups or Kiwitaxi.
Blacklane, based in Berlin, declares a chauffeur service in more than 60 countries, with licensed, insured drivers and a fleet that includes models such as the Jaguar I-PACE and the Mercedes EQE. Welcome Pickups declares it operates in 353 destinations with airport transfers and sightseeing rides. These are data the sites declare about themselves.
In private luxury mobility the difference lies in the level of service. A high-end operator usually guarantees consistent vehicles and a welcome at the airport; a general platform offers more choice and lower prices, but less control over the individual driver. For a fine villa, or for guests arriving from far away, prefer the first model.

Helicopters and short transfers
For short stretches, or to reach places without a suitable runway, the helicopter is an alternative. Cielo Aviation offers helicopter transfers and tours. Eccelsa Aviation at Olbia lists air taxi, helitaxi and limousine service among its services. Class One Group describes helicopter operations alongside jet charter and ground transfers with security drivers.
In private luxury mobility a helicopter has lower capacity and range than a jet, and its use is tied to authorised sites. It can however avoid a long, complicated stretch of road, especially along the coasts. If the route exceeds a certain distance it is worth considering a jet: we cover it on the page about private jet charter.

By time or by trip: how to read a chauffeur quotation
The law on hire with driver speaks of a service by time or by trip, and quotations follow the same logic. A trip service has a price for the route, for example from the airport to the villa. A time service is paid by the hour, and suits a day of commitments with several stops, such as visiting several properties.
What counts in the quotation is what is written in small print. How much waiting time is included, especially at the airport. Whether tolls and parking are included. How time changes are handled. For private luxury mobility transparency is worth more than the rate: a low price with many exclusions costs more than a higher but complete one.
Blacklane, for example, states that it offers both one-way rides and hourly service, with a dedicated welcome on arrival. These are common formulas, but conditions change from operator to operator: always ask what the price includes and what it does not.

Private luxury mobility and safety: who drives and who travels
For many clients privacy weighs as much as comfort. Class One Group presents its ground transfers with security drivers and describes typical clients as families, embassies, artists and international organisations, in contexts where timing and discretion are critical. These are the operator’s own statements, but they show who the service is for.
Blacklane writes that it selects professional drivers who are licensed and insured, and that it applies hygiene protocols. For anyone choosing private luxury mobility these are the right questions: who the driver is, what training they have, which insurance covers passengers, what information about you is shared and with whom.
That last point is often underestimated. Times, addresses and destinations of important clients are sensitive data. A serious operator states how it treats them and to whom it discloses them, without your having to ask twice.

Electric cars and more sustainable private luxury mobility
A growing part of the high-end offer is electric. Blacklane indicates, for example, the possibility of travelling in electric vehicles in some cities, and cites models such as the Jaguar I-PACE and the Mercedes EQE. It presents this as a more sustainable travel option, available in selected locations and not everywhere.
For frequent travellers the choice also has a practical side: an electric car is quiet and allows private conversations and calls during the ride. The limit is availability. If the preference matters, say so in advance, because in many cities the electric fleet is still small.
The logistics of the villa: access, garage and charging
Private luxury mobility starts on the doorstep of the house. Whoever arrives in a car with a driver needs suitable vehicular access, a place to stop and a covered area to unload luggage. These are details that are decided at design stage, not afterwards.
For those with several cars, or who often receive guests, the garage and parking spaces matter. For those choosing electric vehicles, provision for charging matters. It is worth thinking about them from the first sketches of a project, because a villa is also lived through the way you enter and leave it.
It is a subject clients raise late and that is expensive to fix. That is why, when we talk about private luxury mobility, we also talk about architecture: the road and the house are the same project.

What to ask before booking private luxury mobility
For a service with a driver, ask in writing for six things. The NCC authorisation and the municipality that issued it. The assigned vehicle, with category and year. The driver, languages spoken and experience. The time and meeting point, especially at the airport. What the price includes: waiting, tolls, parking. The cancellation and change rules.
For a rental without a driver, the questions change. Which insurance excess, which deposit, how many kilometres are included, who handles fines and how. Whether the car is authorised to circulate in the restricted zones you need. Who answers in case of breakdown, and how quickly.
In both cases of private luxury mobility, be wary of anyone who does not reply in writing. A serious operator puts price, service and conditions in writing, and does so before asking for a deposit. Private luxury mobility is recognised by this too.

Door to door: building a complete private luxury mobility journey
In private luxury mobility the keyword is coordination. A private journey is a chain of services: car to the airport, flight, car on arrival, perhaps a helicopter transfer or a boat. If each stretch has a different operator, each link is a possible delay.
Some private luxury mobility operators integrate several services. Class One Group describes itself as an Italian company of private aviation and integrated luxury transport, coordinating jet charter, helicopters, ground transfers with security drivers and travel logistics, with offices in Rome, Milan, Florence, Naples, Venice and Dubai. Others prefer one operator for each service.
A good rule is to build the itinerary backwards. Start from the time you must be at your destination and calculate the time of each stretch, with margins for waiting. Then choose the operators. It is how those who travel often and do not want to lose time work.
Private luxury mobility websites we consult
This is an editorial selection of private luxury mobility websites, updated October 2026. ELRE is not a party to the contract: the links lead to official websites, where prices, availability and conditions are confirmed by the operator concerned.

Welcome Pickups is a platform for airport transfers and sightseeing rides, with a site available in many languages. It declares it operates in 353 destinations. It is a practical solution for transfers where a high-end service is not needed.
Transparency: what Elite Luxury Real Estate does and does not do
Elite Luxury Real Estate is an editorial and real estate advisory platform for high-end clients. It owns no vehicles, is not a transport operator and does not collect booking requests on this page. We do not add mark-ups to operators’ prices.
Links to operators’ websites are simple links, opened in a new tab. If in future a link entitles ELRE to a commission, we will say so here clearly. The private luxury mobility selection follows editorial criteria: an identifiable company, readable terms, and a local language when possible.
The complete journey: car, jet and yacht
Private luxury mobility does not live alone. It combines with the flight and with the sea. If the itinerary includes a flight, the page on private jet charter explains how air charter works and which certificates to ask for. If it includes a week on a boat, the page on luxury yacht charter covers costs, contract and seasons.
An example: a client lands at Verona by jet, finds a car with a driver who takes them to Lake Garda, and from there continues to the harbour where a yacht is waiting. Three different services with a single thread: arriving where you must, when you must.
Private luxury mobility: frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a taxi and hire with a driver in private luxury mobility?
They are two distinct services under law 21 of 1992. Hire with a driver is booked at the carrier’s premises or garage, for a service by time or by trip, and requires a municipal authorisation.
Which documents are needed to rent a prestige car?
It depends on the operator. As an example, Class One requires a minimum age of 20, a licence issued at least 24 months earlier and a credit card. Other operators have different conditions.
How does Milan's Area C work?
According to the City of Milan it is active Monday to Friday from 7:30 to 19:30 and the daily ticket costs 7.50 euro. Always check hours and fares on the City’s website before travelling.
Is a car with a driver better than a self-drive rental in private luxury mobility?
It depends on how you move. In a city, with restricted zones and parking, a professional driver simplifies a lot. For a weekend in the countryside or on the lake, a car you drive yourself offers more freedom.
Can I book a private luxury mobility transfer from the airport to the villa?
Yes. Transfer operators offer an agreed price and a driver waiting on arrival. Give the flight number, the number of passengers and the luggage: they are needed to size the vehicle.
Can helicopters be used for transfers in private luxury mobility?
Some operators offer helicopter transfers, especially along the coasts. They have lower capacity and range than a jet and are tied to authorised sites.
From mobility to an architecture studio
Those who choose private luxury mobility also look for a place to come back to. Federico Cappellina’s studio designs contemporary villas in north-east Italy and Lombardy, with the same attention to light, space and future maintenance.
